What can be done to promote tolerance and stop bullying in schools?

There is a lot that can be done... such as...

- stricker punishment for bullys
- have ways for those being picked on to share anonymously what the bully did and who the bully is.. if they are afriad of what bully might do if they tell.
- their should be laws that punish not only the bully but the bullys parents (or guardians). maybe when mom and dad are getting punished they will be more likely to do something about their kid and their kid will listen more.
- have better ways to protect those being bully.
- have a hotline those being bullied can call for help n advice
- make the bullys have to see a shrink at the school or outside the school.
- make the bullys do community service and have to speak at places about bullying and why its wrong
- have it on the bullys record til they at least graduate from high school so teachers and parents and school officials know whats up with the bully.
- etc.

Should there be limits on how much money a political candidate can spend on an election campaign, and why?

View 570 Answers

Yes there most definatly should be a limit on how much a candidate can spend on the election campaign. Also should be a limit that each political party or voter can spend on spreading the word about the candidate or party they are for. So that the ppl running (or the ppl supporting the person who runs) can't buy their (their candidates) win. They should earn it and the best person should win, the one that will do the most good and least bad.

Do you celebrate Halloween? What do you like most and least about this holiday?

View 1252 Answers

No I don't and haven't since I was about 10. Although if I had it my way I would of stopped going trick or treating at like 8 and stayed home. But whose gonna leave an 8 yr old all alone at home on Halloween...NOBODY.

This year was the first year since like high school that I didn't just ignore the day. Instead this year I went over to my best friend since 4th grade's mom's house and handed out candy. While we waited for the trick or treaters we ate dinner, surfed the web and talked. It was such an awesome time. I hope we will get together again soon.

What I don't like about halloween... the time of yr its sooo cold out, having to get dressed up to get candy, having to walk all around town going door to door to get candy, the commericalism of the holiday, things that go bump in the night lol, the scary costumes and scary decorations, the idiots that think its fun to scare me or lil kids, etc. What I like all the cute lil kids, when halloween is over, when I get to eat candy I stole out of my sisters pillow case of candy or that she gave me, going to the store the day after and getting all the candy half off or more.

So ya thats my answers.

Yes, I am def. too old to go trick-or-treating. That said candy is for everyone. I usally don't celebrate Halloween anymore. But this year I spent an awesome evening at my best friend since 4th grade's mom's house handing out candy, eating dinner and spending time catching up with my friend. It was cool. I can't wait til I can hang out with her and her mom again (and her brother although he mostly stayed in his old bedroom or somewhere so I didnt get to talk to him much).

The last song that I couldn't get out of my head was 'Bad Romance' by Lady Gaga. I was riding home from going to an awesome resturant in Battle Creek and the song came on the radio. I am in no way a fan of Lady Gaga. I really can't stand her. Although I hate or dislike Ke$ha more. Anyways the stupid song got into my head and wouldn't leave no matter what I did... sing another song in mind, focus on the song that played after the Gaga one, think about what I had to do when I got home, etc. DARN YOU LADY GAGA and your crappy tunes.

(Note: If you like Lady Gaga and her music thats fine. I don't. So please don't hate. We are all entitled to like who we like and listen to what we listen to.)

Making Something Out Of Nothing
[info]rockmusicchick
It upsets me when someone makes something out of nothing. Especially when the way it was worded there is no way that it could be taken as attacking someone or a group of people. And they know what type of a person the individual is and know them enough to know that they don't say stuff like that esp. when around anyone that might take offense if they were to speak that way which they dont but ya.

What also bothers me is when someone involves other people (family, friends, strangers, etc). Instead of talking to the individual or emailing or instant msg'ing them about it and solving the issue peacefully they make a big deal about it and want to start something. What gets me even more is when the individual's people send emails, IMs or call the person who posted something and in the msg they start spewing low blows and talking crap and bringing up the posters health issues, family issues and other stuff and hardly mention if at all the issue that started everything.

We are all grown-ups/adults or should I say you are all grown-ups/adults. Start ACTING like grown ups/adults. Stop with the high school drama and wanting to start shit and gaining up on someone and being a bully.

If you took offense to something or someone you know did and you are defending that person just email the person who made the comment. And say something like "your words offended or hurt me or my friends and I wish you had not have spoken those words. The words have many meanings. And I know you didnt mean them in a negative way but I wish you wouldnt use them. Just letting you know." And if friends were sticking up for the poster and something they said offended one then one should have emailed that person and not attacked the poster whose original comment offended you. Or said something like "what your friends said really offened me or my friends. I wish that your friend would not say such things. I know they are just sticking up for you or whatever but ya."

Sorry all had to vent. Thanks for letting me do so.

We are all entitled to our own view pt and respect my view pt just as I will yours. And dont post hateful things towards me as I will not post hateful things towards or at etc you.

Okay now that I've gotten that out the way... Here is just a few things I'd do if I was president for a day...

- get rid of the patriot act...obama promised he would and he hasnt yet.
- if we must have health care reform I would not force americans to buy or get it. I would just make it an option. I would not penalize someone or charge someone for not taking the health care reform plan or gov. insurance or whatever you want to call it. Americans are already struggling cuz the state of the economy. I'd never say or make americans pay a fee for X amount of months then take 2.5 to 5 percent of their income for life because they don't want to go with my plan or whatever.
- i would figure a way to revamp social security so that its round for alot longer than what is forecasted.
- I would make all those working as apart the goverment rather senators, governors, etc pay least 25% of their health care etc. No more free top notch health care for them. They should get what we all get... if we are gonna be forced to take the plan that they talking about with health care reform so should they.
- I would cut the pay of the top 15 ppl in all these big companies like those at the top oil companies, banks, etc.
- I would do an overhaul of wallstreet and help mainstreet more

oh there is so much that I couldn't possibly do in one day. what would you dear read do if you were president or prime minister for a day?

I think that ppl care so much about celebrities private lives for many reasons. Such as...

- ppl are just generally nosy
- ppl think they have a right to know and that its the price ppl pay to be famous
- they like to be to relate
- they feel better about themseleves cuz somebody has it worse than them
- etc.

I think it could be idol worship. Like I said above I think ppl like to be to relate to famous ppl. Some the stuff one is going through they may be to. Idk how to answer this one really.

I am not against the death penalty. But think that not everyone whose commited a crime should recieve the death penalty. If you steal something or get a ticket etc you shouldnt get the death penalty. However if you killed someone, are a pedifile, have caused great harm, raped someone, etc then I think the death penalty should be given to one or considered as punishment for crimes commited. I'm not that much of a political type of person. And try not to pay that much attention to political candidates. Cuz all the seem to wanna do esp when running for something is bash the other ppl running instead of telling us what they are gonna do and how they are gonna make stuff better. I suppose its not in my top 5 of most important things that decides which one i'd support if I was gonna support anyone at all. But it is a plus if they do agree.

What are five things you love about where you live and five things that you hate? How does it compare to previous places you've lived?

First question listed was submitted by [info]speedingslug. (Follow-up questions, if any, may have been added by LiveJournal.)

View 1597 Answers

Well considering that I have only lived in two places my whole life. Two places that arent very far from each other. It should be fairly easy to answer these 2 questions.

First the 5 things I hate about where I live...

1) the weather: not all the weather just hate the strong to severe storms & hot temps we get in the spring & summer months(esp. this yr). And also the super cold below 40 temps we get in the winter months and all the snow and bad road conditions. Not to say that I dont like a lil snow. Its when we keep accumalating more and more snow and have more than 3 inches on the ground. And also when the roads get bad cuz either they are icy or cuz they are filled with snow cuz the snow trucks are too slow at getting all the roads cleared or there isnt enough funds to get the trucks out there.

2) the schools: i wont even go into this. if you've gone to the schools round here you understand.

3) high gas prices: we get screwed here in MI. not to say other places in the states and around the world dont pay more than us but ya.

4) bad roads/highways/etc

5) nothing to do: we arent a small town or anything. but there isnt much to do here. go to the movies, go out to eat, shop, go to bars or mini golf. you can only do all this stuff at the same places for so long before it gets boring. and all the stuff there is to do they end up closing places and putting in their place stupid stuff or becomes an abandon lot or whaever.

Now for the good stuff....

1) d&r's daily grind resturant: great food @ decent prices and great ppl who run it and great new cook and waitresses/waitors.

2) autumn/fall time

3) fairs

I cant think of anything to put for 4 & 5.

As for how does it compare to where I used to live well I cant say much as I only lived in previous place for the first 2.5 yrs of my life. But having heard about where I used to live and going by the house from time to time. I can say that the place I live now is bigger and has a bigger yard. The place I live now is in a better part of the county. The schools are a lil better here than there. There are more places to go or rather are closer together. Etc.

How can the right music make a party better? What music do you usually put on to get the party started?

Sponsored by: Sponsored by My LifeScoop: Bringing You Tips for a Connected LifeStyle

To be honest I'm over the whole party scene and throwing parties. I prefer small get togethers rather at my house, one my friends house or at some resturant or place.

I suppose that music can make a party better. Say for instance if the partying is taking a turn for the worse... ppl are leaving cuz they are bored or whatnot. You put on the right track and it could lift ppls moods and make ppl feel like dancing etc.

I usally dont put on music during parties though. But if I did I suppose I be putting on stuff that I like and think others would as well. Something not too sleepy and def. not anything classical or screamo or techno or stuff like that. I probably be playing music from the 80s, 90s and last 10 yrs. Some stuff from unsigned bands, indie label bands and major label bands. Stuff that is more uptempo. And that would fall in the rock, grunge, alternative and pop music genres. From bands & singers like Fools For Rowan, Cutting Jade, Seether, Shinedown to just name a few.

Writer's Block: Too mainstream
[info]rockmusicchick

If you've been following a relatively obscure band and they start to become popular, do you tend to lose interest at some point? Is mainstream appeal a turn off when it comes to music?

View 1110 Answers

No not unless they totally change everything from their image and way they act. Also if they changed the music... if they go from an edgy rock band to a screamo band then of course I'm not longer gonna be following their career like I once did. Sure I might still listen to their music from the past and might occasionally check up on what they are up to a few times. But will I fork out money for their records, band merch and concert tickets... no. Will I be apart of their street team to help get their music out there and get them more fans....no. If I dont dig the music then I dont continue to follow um. There have been some bands that took some their original stuff or earlier stuff and totally changed those tracks so much that they sound nothing like what they once were. And totally suck now and to me that is a major turn off or rather I should say just makes me less a fan. To take a track from say b4 signed to a major label then put it on ur major label release and totally change it is a no no for me. A slap in the face to all your fans who been there from day 1. Who helped get you to where u are now. All that said if I like the changes to the music and image and they are not super drastic then no I dont lose interest at any point.

I suppose mainstream appeal could be a turn off when it comes to music. But for the most part I'd say for me just cuz a band may get signed doesnt mean I cant be a fan anymore and listen to the music anymore etc.

What about you dear reader? Is mainstream appeal a turn off when it comes to music for you? Would you lose interest in a band at some point if they became popular? why or why not?

First question listed was submitted by [info]shesawhiplash. (Follow-up questions, if any, may have been added by LiveJournal.)

Had I lived in the 60s, 70s and the 80s probably and you'd asked me these questions then. I probably would of said that yes a romantic relationship can be equal. But asking me these questions now in 2010 or if you'd asked me 10 or 15 years ago I'd answer the same way.

I do not believe now that a romantic relationship can ever be 100% equal. One partner will always love and or compromise more than the other. I say this esp. if you are talking about the 24 and under crowd. As they are for the most part (or least 85%) are selfish and all about themselves. There are very few from this age group that will think about others when it comes to relationships stuff. Its more about what can they get and what they want. Why do you think so many get divorced within the first few months to 2 yrs. Why do you think even those that aren't married but just in a relationship don't last. Not to say there aren't ppl older than 24 that are all about themselves etc esp men. But ya. Anyways I could elaborate more but I wont instead I will answer the 2nd question.

Given the choice I would rather be the one that is loved more. As I have always been the one that loves more instead of the one who is loved more. I am sick of being the one who compromises and does everything while the other does less or very lil if anything at all. Its my turn to be the one that is loved more over the one who loves more. Not to say that I would be some selfish, disrespectful, untrustworthy, distant, etc type person. Cuz I couldn't be that way esp not totally I'm just not like that. But I would like to put in a lil less effort or say instead of 110% put in 80% sometimes. Does that make me a bad person some may say yes. But until you know me and my story and my life and what I have gone through u cant completly understand why I answered the qod's the way I did and agree with me.

Writer's Block: Twilight is nearing

How do you feel about the upcoming Twilight film? Are you a fan or a critical bystander?

View 1504 Answers

Yes I have fallen behind on answering the questions of the day. And I do apologize to anyone who actually reads what I say. But anyways now onto answering some the qods of the month.

I was a tiny bit excited to see the new Twilight flick Eclipse. So yes I am a fan but I am not a FANatic. Now having seen the movie I would say although this one was good I prefer New Moon a lil more. Or rather I would grade New Moon higher than Eclipse. New Moon I gave an A-. Eclipse I give a B.

What I didnt like about this the latest installment is that there was so much focus on the new borns. And not enough on keeping Bella safe and other stuff from the book. Although seeing Xavier Samuel I think his name is that plays Riley made it bareable. That guy is a cutie and what a lovely accent. Although u dont get to hear the accent in the movie. Kristen Stewart was awful like always but she definatly did better in this one than the first one. Taylor still looked hot an did well in this lastest Twilight flick. What bothered me about Rob and well all the Cullens was they looked even more pale almost too pale or white that it didnt look natural. Like did in previous 2 flicks. And what really made the movie not as good as the previous. Was the performance of Victoria by famous director and happy days star's daughter Bryce Dallas Howard. She is NOT a good actress at all. I will even go as far to say that Kristen is a better actress than Bryce. This chick who took over the Victoria role after the Twilight powers fired Rachelle really failed at picking the right person to play Victoria. Bryce seemed like she was just reading lines. So there for she wasnt believable as Victoria. And while your watching the movie its not like your seeing Victoria and all the characters. Its some chick. Its like something happens to an actress so the director looks around and goes hey coffee girl come here. And asks hey coffee girl can you act and coffee girl be like i was in a play in high school. And cuz they have no time and are desperate the director lets her stand in and play the part. But yeah enough about her.

Do I still like the movie? Yes. Will I buy it when it comes out on DVD? Yes. Will I go see the remaining twilight films? Yes.

If you have seen the new twilight movie dear reader what did you think of it? What grade would you give it and why? What did you love about this one? What did you hate? What did you think of the actors that played each character? What was missing from the film that you wish had been in the film? etc.

Saturday Night/ Early Sunday Morning Weather

Late last night and early this morning was very interesting to put it lightly. All day yesterday news was saying we were in a slight risk area for severe weather. But in the AM of yesterday they said that the slight risk area was gonna move farther south. Boy were they off.

There was a tornado watch for least 4 hrs and that lasted til about 1:30 or 2am this morning. We also had a tornado warning for about 45 mins to an hour. And boy was that scary.

Weather fanatics might of loved late last night early this morning BUT I did NOT!

We had high wind, wind gusts in 40s to 60s, heavy rain, lightning, hail and more.

This morning I saw some photos of Kzoo and there was road flooding and river flooding. We still have a flood warning. We had everything from a flash flood warning to a flood watch etc. over the last 8 or so hrs.

That all said we were much more lucky here in Kzoo than say places like Allegan, Calhoun and Battle Creek. And def. didnt get hit as bad as those in IL, OH and IN. There was least one Tornado that touched down in IN.

Hope the weather where ever you are dear reader was much better than what has been here the last 10 hrs.

In general yes I do think I find it hard to open up to most ppl. Because you never know who you can trust. Some ppl pretend to care then go and talk about you behind your back and make stuff up about you etc. Some ppl pretend to care then only to hurt you sometime in near future. Some ppl pretend to care only to get something out of you. Some ppl pretend to care cuz they get some kind of sick pleasure out of other ppls pain etc. Oh I could go on here. The benefits of being guarded are you get hurt less. People cant use things against you. Etc. The disadvantages I suppose is you could lose someone you care about cuz they want you to open up so they can get to know you or help you. And if you dont open up then they get upset or hurt and leave you or ignore you or stop talkin to u.

Okay I think one is asking what is the youngest you can be and be allowed to join sites like facebook, twitter and myspace and journal/blog sites like live journal etc.

I think for social networking sites like facebook, myspace and twitter you should not be allowed on the site or be to have a user account if you are 16 and younger. As for blog sites like Live Journal I think can have the age limit be a lil lower... You should have to be 15 or older. There is just too many sickos and crazy ppl out there to allow anyone younger on these sites. Same goes for chat rooms... kids who are 15 and younger should def not be allowed on them. Unless it is a kids site, the kids have permission to be on the sites and the parents have checked out the sites and read everything said and rules are explained to kids.
